Whenever a free-to-play game launches, people want to know, “What’s the catch?” The studio must monetize in some way to ensure continued development, right? With that in mind, is Arena Breakout: Infinite pay to win?
Does Arena Breakout: Infinite Include Pay to Win Microtransactions?
The studio has declared that “skill will ultimately determine the outcome” of combat encounters in Arena Breakout: Infinite. Is this an answer regarding pay-to-win mechanics, though? Nope, it’s a non-answer. The studio’s mobile title, Arena Breakout, heavily leans into pay-to-win microtransactions to earn money. Unfortunately, it’s likely that Arena Breakout: Infinite may follow suit, as Tencent wants its bag.
However, in past interviews, the team did state they wished to avoid pay-to-win mechanics and microtransactions. Whether or not that remains the case and whether Tencent steps in to make the call in the end remains up in the air.
Following the game’s launch into Early Access, we now know there are quite a few microtransactions in the game that many would consider pay-to-win and others that are downright egregious. For example, you can buy in-game currency using real-world money, which means you may purchase the best weapons and gear in the game, giving you an unfair advantage over competitors. Furthermore, you can purchase additional stash space, but it’s only a rental. It’s a limited-time purchase that does disappear if you don’t keep paying for the service. In many ways, it’s worse than Escape From Tarkov!

Will Arena Breakout: Infinite Offer Cosmetic Skins?
Morefun Studios previously announced cosmetic microtransactions to help fund further development of Arena Breakout: Infinite. They didn’t delve too much into the extent of the cosmetics or their cost, but they did state they wouldn’t sell anything that provides an unfair advantage.
We must wait to see whether their word is good and how far the microtransactions and in-game store will reach in Arena Breakout: Infinite.
