Alan Wake 2’s Anniversary Update Goes Live Today

Remedy Entertainment is releasing an Anniversary Update for Alan Wake 2, which includes several quality-of-life and accessibility features. The free update will be available today.

In the new blog post, Remedy revealed that they have been gathering feedback and working on changes and improvements for Alan Wake 2’s Anniversary Update while working on two expansions, Night Springs and The Lake House. The new update includes features frequently requested by the community, along with their “biggest addition to quality of life and accessibility options to the game”.

The first requested feature for Alan Wake 2’s Anniversary update is the ability to invert the X (horizontal) axis on the mouse and controller, not just the Y (vertical) axis.

The next feature is exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and only works with the DualSense controller. Following the Anniversary Update, Alan Wake 2 will support gyro aiming (motion controls) on the PS5. The motion sensor can be turned on or off. Additionally, players can tweak horizontal or vertical sensitivity, set a gyro space, and choose whether they want standard or inverted directions for pitch, yaw, and role.

Moreover, the DualSense is also receiving improved and refined haptics support for weapons, and haptics will also work with healing items and throwables.

The Anniversary Update also adds a Gameplay Assist menu, which has a variety of options to choose from; check out the complete list below:

  • Quick turn
  • Auto-complete QTE
  • Button tapping to a single tap
  • Weapon charging with taps
  • Healing items with taps
  • Lightshifter with taps
  • Player invulnerability
  • Player immortality
  • One shot kill
  • Infinite ammo
  • Infinite flashlight batteries

In other news, Remedy has partnered with Annapurna to bring Alan Wake and Control to film and television. Also, the developer’s first multiplayer game, FBC Firebreak, will be released in 2025.
