A fan-made mod that would’ve added Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 content — the 2009 version of the game — to Modern Warfare Remastered on PC has been shut down. And it’s all thanks to Activision.
The H2M mod for Modern Warfare Remastered was set to launch on Friday, August 16. However, just a day before the launch, the developers were hit with a Cease & Desist from lawyers representing Activision.

“Today, our team members received a Cease & Desist order on behalf of Activision Publishing in relation to the H2M-Mod project,” they said on Twitter. We are complying with this order and shutting down all operations immediately and permanently.
The H2M mod was going to add 50 maps to the game along with new attachments and camos for the guns. The mod also included an updated progression system and even Killstreaks from the original Modern Warfare 2.
Modern Warfare Remastered even saw a massive spike in players on Steam thanks to the pending release of the mod. The game had an over 300% increase in daily max players over the last few days compared to a month ago. It even found its way on Steam’s Top Sellers in recent days due to the hype.
Now, it’s likely those players once again turn away from the game with no mod coming.
Insider Gaming has reached out to Activision for clarification on the reasons for sending the Cease & Desist. Should a response be received, this article will be updated accordingly.

Activision cannot possibly have a fun game releasing that’ll take away from the cesspit that is modern cod. Fuck them.
Ir just shows that Activision was scared of Moddershall doing a better job then Activision themselves. It’s literally the only reason it would get shut down
Shame on you big time Activision.
