Activision has announced it’s opening a brand new AAA studio based in Poland called Elsewhere Entertainment. This new studio will be “exclusively focused on creating a new narrative-based and genre-defining AAA franchise.”
“Built from the ground up, Elsewhere Entertainment is a premier and standalone studio dedicated to establishing an environment that inspires bold and diverse ideas,” Activision said. “The team’s underlying mission encourages everyone to explore and collaborate creatively to craft a franchise with an enduring legacy that resonates far beyond games.”
Activision says that the team at Elsewhere Entertainment includes developers from games like Uncharted, The Last of Us, The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, Far Cry, The Division, and Destiny.
The first game from the studio wasn’t revealed as part of the announcement. What was said, however, is that the first game will be part of an “all new franchise”.
“The new studio has full access to Activision’s resources and tools as it continues to increase production and development,” the company said. “Elsewhere is opening its search for best-in-class talent from across the industry and around the world to help create a state-of-the-art and next generation gaming experience.”

Remember the last time Xbox made a new studio it was called The Initiative they still haven’t made a game and apparently won’t they have other studios make the games but those other studios had major shake ups so they might not make anything. This doesn’t cover for the shut down of Tango. Still no Japan studio despite what Phil says.
The studio is still far from making a game they’re still hiring…..so in 10 years maybe if Microsoft doesn’t close them we might see a game and even then it might be bad.
Microsoft needs a turnaround now! They need to buy Electronic Arts launch the sports titles in Game Pass, give DICE the Perfect Dark reboot to crank out and cancel Battlefield, get Respawn to continue on their game, and bring Motive back to Dead Space. Give BioWare Fable since it seems Playground can’t handle it and just fold Playground and Turn 10 into Codemasters.
Yes
How about bringing back Vicarious Visions and letting them get back to their remakes and let them handle franchises like Crash, Spyro, Banjo, THPS, THUG, Kameo, and Conker for the future. Then how about getting the Radical staff back together and bringing back Prototype and True Crime at least remakes of Prototype 1 and True Crime NYC. Side project give Playground Games Blur have them make a free to play sequel.
Still no Japan studio oh wait Microsoft killed that. I hope they stick to only acquiring big publishers and leave the small studios alone.
Don’t worry EA is next.
Xbox always buys or opens studios but never makes games.
Honestly I would be feeling more nervous at this company than I excited. Microsoft has proven that you can make a good game that sells decent and still be shut down. There’s just no certainty with companies’ future under Microsoft/Activision unless you make a game that makes CoD numbers.
