Until Dawn 2 has been unveiled out of nowhere at the PlayStation State of Play showcase, revealing a star-studded title bursting at the seams with cinematic storytelling and intense sequences. It tells the story of a band of ‘ghost hunters’ who fake their content until they go on the wrong journey and come face to face with a real and very lethal threat.
It has been more than a decade since Until Dawn was released, and the follow-up title has already started turning heads. You can see the full new trailer for Until Dawn 2 below.
Until Dawn 2 Surprises Viewers at State of Play
Until Dawn 2 has been years in the making, and it introduces the same formula that the base game offered a decade ago. It’s a survival title with an insane narrative that puts a group of young folks against a dire threat. In this game, players assume control of a cast represented by some of the most recognizable talent going, including Neil Newbon, Peter Stormare, and Dacre Montgomery.
It’s being pieced together by Firesprite, which most recently worked on games like Star Citizen (co-developed a special mode) and Horizon: Call of the Mountain, a VR title.
As the game’s trailer confirms, there’s the potential for every character to both live and die, depending on the player’s choices. If this is anything like the first game, there will be a massive branching narrative that can end in several ways, making for solid replayability. Or not, because these games are mostly driven by instinctive decisions, but you never know!
