The Pantry Key isn’t an essential item in Resident Evil Requiem, nor is the Pantry Room. However, the room is host to a roomful of goodies, and it’s absolutely worth opening if you can find and obtain the Pantry Key.
If you play a Resident Evil game, you already know to expect a myriad of locked doors and mysterious keys. The first real meaty section of Resident Evil Requiem has you exploring the Care Center with Grace, and the locale is full of wings, floors, and rooms.
Many of them are locked, including the aforementioned Pantry Room. So let’s get the key!
Where Is The Pantry Key In Resident Evil Requiem?

Quite simply, the Chef has the Pantry Key on his person in Resident Evil Requiem.
Ah, yes, everyone who has played Requiem will remember that spine-tingling moment of walking into the Kitchen for the first time and seeing the hulking infected Chef hacking away at his ingredients (we think they’re ingredients anyway).

Not only was he probably a good chef when he was alive, but he’s now essentially a guardian, as he holds the key to the Pantry Room Door. There is no other way to open the door either: No Lockpicks, no gadgets or gizmos, not even Requiem itself could open it.
How To Obtain Pantry Room Door Key In Resident Evil Requiem

You have to kill the Chef in Resident Evil Requiem to get the Pantry Door Key.
If you have any intention to open the Pantry Door, then the news needs to be broken to you: You must kill the Chef, and he doesn’t go down without a fight.

You’ve understandably avoided him at all costs because if he does get a hold of you, it’s an instant death as he mercilessly butchers you and horrifyingly skewers Grace.
The Pantry Door IS OPTIONAL. No main story items are tied to it, so if you don’t have the resources or simply don’t want to fight him, then don’t. But you should.
How To Kill The Chef In Resident Evil Requiem
There are three main ways to kill the Chef in Resident Evil Requiem: Kill him normally with Grace using items and weapons, kill him as Grace using a Hemolytic Injector, or defeat him as Leon.
Kill Him Normally As Grace
If you’ve got a Requiem bullet or two in reserve or crafted, this is the best way to go about it if you don’t have any injectors. If not, a few upgraded bullets should do the trick, but as Chael Sonnen would advise, you can’t let him get close!
Use A Hemolytic Injector
As you explore the Care Center, you unlock the ability to use Hemolytic Injectors. These one-off items instantly kill practically every enemy in the Care Center, provided you can sneak up on them or damage and stun them enough in a direct combat encounter.
Whichever way you go about it, we advise the first—you can immediately blow up the Chef with a single Hemolytic Injector.
Wait To Use Leon
*Slight Spoiler Warning*
After obtaining the third Quartz item, Grace has to jump down a hole, and you switch over to Leon, who has the freedom to explore the Care Center. If you haven’t killed the Chef by now, you can now come at him all guns blazing with a Shotgun, Grenades, and more to easily defeat him and take the Pantry Door Key.
How To Get Order Up! Trophy In Resident Evil Requiem, Explained
To get the Order Up! trophy in Resident Evil Requiem, the description says you must “Defeat the chef in the care center in the main story.”
Again, it doesn’t matter if you do it with Leon or Grace, as long as you kill him and get the key, you get the trophy, and put yourself one step closer to completing the Resident Evil Requiem trophy list.
