Windrose developers haven’t revealed a release date as they want players to allow them to “cook more”.
The upcoming pirate-themed open-world PvE survival adventure developed by the Windrose Crew has generated significant anticipation, with its wishlists already exceeding 1 million. However, players are still awaiting an important piece of information: the release date, and that could take some time to be announced.
Windrose Crew Are Holding the Release Date to ‘Lock this in Firmly’
Spotted by PC Gamer, Windrose developers recently addressed concerns about the release date on the game’s official Discord. The developers first acknowledged fans’ disappointment at not receiving a release date announcement and stated they are as passionate as the community about announcing it as well, “but now is not the time to do it.”
The developers asked players to allow them to “cook more,” and an announcement of the release date should arrive when they “feel confident enough.” Windrose Crew also ensures that they aren’t holding this information to increase anticipation, and the reason for not announcing it is “to lock this in firmly and ship the game on time and in [the] best condition possible.”
Players can still try the Windrose demo while waiting for the release date announcement. It offers 4-6 hours of gameplay, allowing players to explore the first three islands of the Archipelago, experience early quests, the first ship, naval combat, and boarding. Players also get a taste of core gameplay systems, featuring a selection of weapons, enemies, and survival mechanics.
