No Xbox Exclusive Has Been Nominated For GOTY Since 2010

Xbox exclusives haven’t been a part of Game of the Year (GOTY) nominations since 2010, making it 15 years since one was nominated.

The latest list of nominees for The Game Awards 2025 is now live, with winners announced on December 11. However, as we wait for the award show to take place and a new GOTY to be crowned, players should know that no Xbox exclusives are making it to nominations, leaving them out of the running to win the prestigious award.

Xbox Exclusives Haven’t Been Nominated for GOTY for 15 Years

Spotted by TheGamer, Nick Marseil’s latest post on X (formerly Twitter) reveals every GOTY nominee for The Game Awards from 2013 to today, categorising them as PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox Exclusives. PlayStation has had 15 games nominated, including titles like The Last of Us, Marvel’s Spider-Man, God of War, Death Stranding 2, and more. Nintendo has had 12 exclusives nominated, including Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Donkey Kong Bananza, and more. Xbox, as mentioned above, has had none.

The answer to when Xbox Exclusives were nominated for GOTY will not make the fans happy, as it was before The Game Awards ceremony even began. The last time Xbox exclusives were nominated for this award was through the Spike Video Game Awards, where Halo: Reach and Mass Effect 2 were nominated. However, none of these games won the award.

If you are wondering about the latest GOTY nominees for TGA 2025, the list includes: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Donkey Kong Bananza, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, and Hades 2. Additionally, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has broken a record at TGA 2025.
