Mega Evolution returns in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, including the return of Mega Charizard X & Y, with two types of Charizardite required to unlock the pair, and we’ve got all the crucial details.
A host of Mega Evolution Pokémon are available in Legends: Z-A, with a crop of new additions joining the fan-favorites from the past, which, of course, means Charizard is back on the scene once again.
Getting your hold on a Charizardite to unlock Mega Charizard in Pokémon Legends: Z-A is costly, however, and may take some grinding, as we’ve explained in this guide.
Where to Find Charizardite X & Y to Get Mega Charizard in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Both Charizardite items are available to purchase from the Stone Emporium once you meet the point in the story where Mega Evolution is fully unlocked.
Completing Main Mission 10 opens the door to an abundance of new Mega Evolutions, with the Stone Emporium one of several means to obtaining Mega Stones. However, not every Mega Stone is stocked here, though both Charizardite X and Charizardite Y are available to purchase.
The Stone Emporium is located in the southern portion of Lumiose City, not too far from Hotel Z and Wild Zone 1, so it should be fairly easy to locate on your map. It’s also right near to the Rogue Mega Slowbro, one of the initial Pokémon you are tasked with taking down after being recruited by Quasartico Inc.
The Mega Stones cost $100,000 a piece and are each only available to purchase once, as you cannot own multiple Mega Stones of the same type.
Can You Have Both Mega Charizard X & Mega Charizard Y in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
Yes, it is possible to have both Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, as long as you have both Mega Stones.
Charizard can also only hold one Mega Stone at a time, so you need to have two Charizard on your team to utilize both types of Mega Charizard in battle. Of course, this requires catching numerous Charmander, which only become available in the post-game unless you selected Charmander as a gift from Mable early in the story.
Having both Mega Charizard at your disposal isn’t just a flex on other players either, as both have significant differences in their strengths and weaknesses, although Mega Charizard X is by far the most beloved of the duo.
