How LoL Worlds Works
The competitive League of Legends scene is made up of regional leagues run by the game’s publisher, Riot Games. These are South Korea’s LCK, China’s LPL, EMEA’s LEC, North America’s LCS, Asia Pacific’s LCP, and Brazil’s CBLOL.
All year, teams compete in their respective regions across three ‘splits’ – separate competitions in Winter, Spring, and Summer. Summer brings the annual season to a close and sees the top teams from each league qualify for LoL Worlds.
One of the best LoL Worlds betting tips around is simply watching the major leagues in the LCK, LPL, LEC, and LCS. This will give you a much better idea of the top teams’ form and potential ahead of the tournament.
The best-performing teams from the Mid-Season Invitational, a smaller international LoL tournament that takes place after Spring, receive an extra Worlds slot for their region, meaning their league can send a fourth seed.
This is usually from the LCK and LPL, which have dominated LoL esports for the grand majority of its history. Only two teams from outside these regions have won Worlds, Fnatic (Europe) in Season 1 and Taipei Assassins (APAC) in Season 2 – before Korea became a major region. Now, it’s near impossible to stop the Koreans, particularly T1 (formerly SKT T1) and Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok, who have won the last three Worlds and a record total of six.
LoL Worlds begins with the Play-Ins, which allows one bottom seed from the remaining lower regions to qualify for the Main Event. Teams from Play-Ins can usually do well against the odds, as the extra stage games offer great practice.
The Main Event then begins with the Swiss Stage, which sees teams battle against teams with equal records until a final eight is decided. The final eight then compete in the Knockouts, a single-elimination bracket with no second chances, to determine that year’s LoL World Champion.
LoL Worlds Betting Markets Explained
League of Legends is one of the more complex esports games out there. As a result, it will have its own unique terminology and markets compared to other games, like Apex Legends.
Yet, League was designed to be the most accessible MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) games on the market, which is why the game became so popular. It feels great to correctly predict something in the game, which is why LoL Worlds betting is one of the most satisfying esports gambling experiences out there.
You’ll be surprised at how quickly you’ll start to understand LoL Worlds’ betting odds too. After watching a few matches, you’ll soon have a good idea of who is playing like Faker or when a team has the tools to complete a huge comeback.
Typically, League of Legends Worlds betting odds sites will initially only show outright winner odds for tournaments and matches. However, select one of those matches, and you’ll soon find a variety of markets like these that will reward your knowledge.
| Betting Market | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Match Winner | Predict which team will win the series. Most professional matches are best-of-three or best-of-five. The Worlds Knockouts are all best-of-fives. |
| Map Winner | While “map” is more a term used for shooting games like Counter-Strike and Valorant, League of Legends betting sites use map to describe a single match within a multi-game series. A best-of-five match could end after Map (game) 3, so you may not want to bet too early on Map 4 or Map 5. |
| First Blood | First Blood is a term in League of Legends for the team that picks up the first kill. The game rewards the First Blood team with extra gold, and you could get some extra income too by betting correctly on which team will claim it. |
| First Dragon | There are “Epic Monsters” which reward teams handsomely for killing them, and Dragons are one of them. You can look at a team’s average Dragons killed per game to see how heavily they prioritise this strategy and gauge how likely they are to kill the first Dragon in a match. |
| First Baron | Another Epic Monster, Baron Nashor is a huge purple beast that doesn’t appear until 20 minutes into the match. The team that kills Baron gets a huge temporary buff to their pushing, making them much more likely to take the enemy base and win; this can heavily swing live lol worlds betting odds. |
| Total Inhibitors Destroyed | Predict how many Inhibitors will be destroyed by the end of a match. A team needs to destroy at least one Inhibitor before taking the enemy Nexus to win and there are total of six on the map, three for each team. |
| Total kills over/under | Predict how many kills a match will see. A lot of Korean teams are more controlled, while LPL and LEC teams are typically more aggressive and kill-hungry. Factor in teams’ playstyles for your LoL Worlds betting. |
| Map duration over/under | Predict how long a match will last. You can easily find a league and a team’s average game length online, which should be a good indicator. One LoL Worlds betting tip to keep in mind, with the high pressure Worlds games can often take slightly longer with teams afraid to make mistakes. |

Best LoL Worlds Betting Apps For 2026
LoL Worlds games can change in the blink of an eye, which means for live betting especially, you likely will want a fast and convenient option. Thankfully, a lot of betting sites have mobile phone apps which keep all the action in your pocket.
To keep track of all the upcoming matches and favourites in each game, these League of Legends betting sites have apps that will help you quickly find LoL Worlds odds:
- GG.Bet - When it comes to mobile LoL Worlds betting, it doesn’t get better than GG.Bet. Its dedicated app for both iOS and Android is easy to install and perfect for tracking live.
- BC.Game - BC.Game is another good option despite the fact that you won’t find it on the App or Google Play Store. On Android devices, you can download an APK directly from BC.Game website to utilise its app. While Apple users will have to take a few extra steps to create a Progressive Web App (PWA) for their home screen. Once set up, it will work just as well as any other esports betting app.
- BetFury also officially supports the option to create a PWA on both Android and iOS, bringing LoL Worlds betting to your smartphone, though GG.Bet is probably the more streamlined option.
And don’t worry if you don’t want more apps bloating your phone and taking up storage. As well as your PC, you can also access any of these sites on your phone or tablet browser to find LoL Worlds odds at any time. Shuffle.com has a particularly clean website that feels great to navigate on all devices.
LoL Worlds 2026 Favourites
LoL Worlds 2026 is a particularly special case in that there’s no real clear favourite this year. Various teams have shown very high levels of play but have also suffered their fair share of struggles this Summer.
At the very least, it almost certainly will be a team from the LPL or LCK, probably the latter. Of the 15 World Championships so far, 10 have been won by a Korean team.
From Korea, it’s impossible to write off T1 and one of esports’ greatest ever players in Faker, especially as they’ve won the last three LoL Worlds and no other team has even won the championship in consecutive years. Just like past years, T1 failed to win a single domestic title in Korea and have been inconsistent all year. Yet, usually at Worlds they seem impossible to get the better of. And their newest player Kim 'Peyz' Su-hwan looks anything but a weak link.
The antithesis to T1 is Gen.G, the reigning LCK champions – the team that always performs phenomenally except for at Worlds. Gen.G’s remarkably talented roster have been favourites to win Worlds for the last two years in a row but have failed to even make the final. After a year where they uncharacteristically struggled, at least by their high standards, Gen.G have peaked in form at the perfect time and now have to be slight Worlds favourites… again.
And completing Korea’s triangle of likely title hopefuls is Hanwha Life Esports, who have upset the status quo in the LCK. With Choi ‘Zeus’ Woo-je and Lee ‘Gumayusi’ Min-hyeong, two players who won multiple Worlds with T1, HLE are serious contenders. They won LCK Spring and MSI, but were just bested by Gen.G this Summer. Still, with multiple Worlds winners in the team, they may have a mental edge on Gen.G on the big stage.
As for the LPL, most hopes rely on 2024 Worlds finalists BLG. BLG dominated the LPL for the majority of the year and even won international gold at First Stand. At one time, they were considered the best team in the world, but superstar toplaner Chen ‘Bin’ Zebin’s behavioral issues have held the team back and BLG shockingly lost the LPL Summer title to Anyone’s Legend. Still if any LPL team is to lift the Summoner’s Cup this year, it would surely have to be BLG.
As for the West, most hopes are on the usual suspects of LEC champions G2 Esports. The team, with newly inducted Hall of Legends member Rasmus ‘Caps’ Winther have dominated again this year and even taken games off LPL and LCK teams, only to be swept 3-0 and eliminated in the following series. G2 have potential, they always do and they’re capable of more, but the stars will have to align.
And competing in front of a home crowd could give a lift to the LCS’ top teams in Team Liquid and LYON. However, historically it’s been the opposite as LCS teams have struggled at Worlds hosted in North America.
Still, TL’s rise and clean performances in the Summer Split suggest they are capable of hanging with the best. And second seeds LYON have also shown high highs, including a 3-0 sweep of G2 at MSI, but after faltering during Summer there’s questions over the team’s current state. If they and Kacper ‘Inspired’ Słoma recapture their old form and confidence, they could also cause teams a lot of issues.
