California still hasn’t legalized Real Money Online Casinos and the introduction of Bill A.B 831 means that playing at Sweepstakes Casinos is strictly prohibited.
As of January 1, 2026, sweepstakes casinos are no longer legal in California. State law prohibits dual-currency gaming platforms that allow virtual currencies to be exchanged for cash or prizes; this includes sweepstakes casinos and poker sites.
This means that new players at Social Casinos will not get no-deposit bonus to get started.
Below, we will go over why the best free sign-up bonuses aren’t available in California anymore, and what alternatives remain for players seeking casino-style entertainment.

What Were The Types Of No Deposit Bonuses In California
As of January 1, 2026, the Golden State has explicitly banned any online gaming platform that uses redeemable virtual currencies, so different types of no deposit bonuses for both new and existing players are no longer available.
We will go over the most common types of free offers you could have claimed before January 1, 2026, at popular California online casinos.
No Deposit Signup Bonus
Most online Social Casinos in California offered new users free welcome packages, no deposit bonuses awarded simply for creating a new account.
So, how did signup bonuses work?
- You can only claim a signup bonus once when you create a new account at an online casino.
- Most of them don’t even require a special code–you just have to register with your personal information.
- Social casinos can’t give you real cash for signing up, but most welcome bonuses include Gold Coins.
- Your free tokens should be added to your account as soon as your registration is complete and your identity is verified.
All of the casinos listed above had some type of signup bonus, and the conditions where diffrent.
No Deposit Daily Login Bonus
One of the easiest ways to win free spins, tokens, and more at your favorite Social Casinos was to claim your free login bonus every day.
To get your daily bonus, you just had to sign in to your account at least once every 24 hours.
Most of the CA casinos listed above offered some sort of daily login bonus, but each one had different offers and some only reward players with GC, so read the terms and conditions carefully.
To reward their most loyal customers, some casinos like Pulsz increased your daily bonus the more days you log in.
No Deposit Referral Bonus
Most of the sweepstakes casinos on our list rewarded you for referring new users.
To claim a referral bonus you had to:
- Get someone you know to register a new account with your favorite online sweepstakes casino.
- Make sure they use your unique referral link or code when they sign up. You should be able to find this information in your account menu.
- Many referral bonuses include both GC and SC, but every casino has different rules and offers, so make sure you read the T&Cs first.
- Keep in mind that some referral programs require your friends to purchase before you are credited with a bonus.
No Deposit Bonuses At Land-Based Casinos
Although land-based casinos in California don’t usually hand out cash bonuses or free spins for new members, you can get some amazing perks by joining their loyalty programs.
- The Pechanga Resort doesn’t currently offer no deposit bonuses but they do have great benefits for their loyalty rewards members. As a welcome gift, new rewards club members get $25 in free resort points and existing members can win free upgrades, tickets for events, gifts, and more.
- Whether you live in Palm Springs or are planning a desert getaway, the Agua Caliente Spa Resort and Casino has some amazing VIP offers. New members of their ACE Club can collect free play credits and participate in the chance to win up to $10,000 to spend at their casinos.
- The Sycuan Casino Resort near downtown San Diego also has special promos and prizes for their VIP club members including the chance to win thousands of dollars in cash, free play, and exclusive tournaments, as well as dining credits and other resort perks.
Though these are great for people who regularly visit physical casinos, online casinos tend to have more frequent promotions and bigger perks for both new and existing users.
Can You Get A No Deposit Bonus In California?
The short answer here is, No. As of January 1, 2026, state law bans dual‑currency gaming platforms that allow virtual currencies like Gold Coins and Sweepstakes Coins to be redeemed for cash or prizes.
Welcome packages usually offer the biggest welcome bonuses at California online casinos, but you will no longer be able to get any.
Currently, if you live in California, you are limited to free-play social games, skill-based competitions, and land-based gambling venues.
